We continue to preach the uncompromised Gospel, and demonstrate the power
of Holy Ghost with healings and other supernatural wonders.
As a Biblical Church, we make genuine disciples who have counted the cost of following Jesus (Luke 14:26-33). One of the disciples commented, “I’ve never seen a church where there is a 100% turn
up to the prayer meeting”. In fact the church has 100% participation every week at that meeting, and at a mid-week Bible study, and at a joint evangelism session, and at the weekly church service, AND at one of the services of our sister church in Manurewa. And with discipleship and other meetings, we meet nearly every day, in the fashion of Acts 2:46.
Earlier this year, one of our disciples, having been proven (1 Tim 3:10), was called to the Gisborne Church to continue discipleship and to continue training as a pastor there.
Other disciples have proved God’s faithfulness during an extended time of unemployment. While they had no income and no savings, God showed them a way, and gave them gifts, and blessed them with a house move with a big reduction in rent. The Lord gave them favour with the landlord who waived the letting fee, and gave a couple of days of rent payment grace. They even discovered their water supply account was $180 in credit!
A backslidden Christian living in Otara, having found himself at a very low point in his life – contemplating suicide, called the church phone number. He started coming to church meetings a couple of months ago, and now says he has “never known such peace” in his life. He was deeply moved by accurate words of knowledge, particularly relating to a spiritual bondage of his Pacific island tribal group.
A disciple was home one night, with his brother (also a disciple), when a friend of their father came to visit. The man was very depressed and suicide was also on his mind. The brothers ministered the Gospel to him, and he left later encouraged, and with new hope in his soul.
A disciple prayed for an injured workmate. The wrist was healed and the man was able to return to work immediately. Later that week, that healed person came privately to the disciple asking for his
help in a difficult home situation.
We continue to meet for our church services each week, at the Otara Leisure Centre while we are seeking a venue to hold Sunday services. This highly trafficked location gives our meetings superb exposure. Most weeks our ushers are able to explain to the many curious passersby who stop to see what is going on in our meeting.
Likewise, we still conduct most of our team evangelism in the same mall as throughout last year. This year we have been given the go-ahead to use the stage for open-air preaching any time it is not
in use which is most of the time. And we have added a door-knocking team to our official evangelism activity in recent months. Both the mall team and the doors team are finding lots of opportunities for the Gospel. When you pray for us, ask the Lord of the harvest that the gospel seed
we sow is landing on good-ground ears, (Mat 13:23).
