It was also confronting to be reminded of the many souls who came in and out again through our doors. Over the year many individuals visited once or twice to check us out. Some were healed, delivered, received accurate prophetic words, and were set free, but quickly returned to the world. Some zealously proclaimed they were here to stay and persevered for a while but then fell away. Others aborted their discipleship because of offence or blatant love of sin. Still we strive to be faithful to the call of God and do all we can to give all men an opportunity to repent and become followers of Jesus Christ, knowing that there will always be those who turn back. At the one year mark we are full of praise towards God for all He has done in those who love Him and expectant for much more in the year to come!
The AHKM ministers and disciples enjoyed a refreshing break over Christmas though most are saying they are happy to be back into the full swing of things this week as Bible Study, Prayer Meeting and Evangelism all start back. The Christmas service was a blessing as we celebrated the real Christmas story from the Bible and fellowshipped together over lunch. New Years went off with a ‘bang’ literally as we enjoyed our second year of LEGAL fireworks displays in Rev’s Ryan and Jac’s backyard! (This country rocks!). And our first few church services of 2012 have been exciting and stretching as we all rise up to fill new roles in Manurewa.
At the close of 2011 our Ministry Directors announced that already God has directed we plant a second church in the suburb of Otara! Otara is about 25 minutes drive north from our present church in Manurewa and is historically renowned as ‘one of the most dangerous places in New Zealand.’ It has been the traditional stomping ground for many prominent gangs and was made infamous as the setting for the violent 90’s film ‘Once Were Warriors’ (we don’t recommend the film). We have been told by residents that crime and violence is a lot less these days because of police crack downs, but we still meet people who have witnessed murders and other horrific crimes in the area. Praise God He is sending in His soldiers to bring the Good News!! Church services will officially begin on Saturday evenings at the ‘Otara Leisure Centre’ on February 11th (see ABOUT US tab for more details). If you are in the area please feel free to join us, and we look forward to updating the rest of you with many mighty exploits for Jesus in Otara.
This week four disciples made a ministry trip to Hamilton to visit one of AHKM’s long-distance disciples. Hamilton is a small city / large town about an hour and half drive from the southern fringe of Auckland and is also in need of Biblical churches which will evangelise and disciple its people. Currently AHKM has two disciples who live in the vicinity of Hamilton, both who are being discipled via our long-distance model. Ultimately we would love to have churches all over this nation to serve anyone wanting to grow up in their faith, but until then we offer to train people up into maturity any way we can - via email, phone and other methods of accountability. The young disciple we visited invited some friends to her apartment for our meeting and together we worshipped God and studied the Word on the topic of Biblical discipleship. One person was powerfully baptised in the Holy Ghost and spoke in tongues for the first time. Another visitor, who is married to the Pastor of a small church in Hamilton, was greatly encouraged at the prophetic words brought forth and the ministry she received from God. She went home and shared with her husband who has also contacted us and is keen to catch up for fellowship & prayer.
We also shared testimonies and heard of some inspirational conversions that occurred with great power in India and how God has since led these believers to New Zealand. The young disciple testified how unsatisfied she has been with 15 minute sermons and quick worship sessions at the majority of churches in Hamilton after the great zeal she has seen in the Pastors in North India who daily face persecutions. People are hungry for the real thing with Jesus all across New Zealand and are increasingly fed up with the business-like, performance-based churches that are so prominent here and elsewhere in the West. Before we left Hamilton of course we hit the streets and preached the Gospel, and had many good conversations about the truth. The disciple is now excited to go out by herself every week to give out tracts and talk simply about Jesus – praise God the message is getting out!
We are very excited this month to study the Word concerning ‘Financing the Kingdom Work’ in the 7th and Final part of our Biblical Foundations Course (a HUGE thanks to NCAF for sending over the completed syllabus to us from Australia!!!). Every disciple has grown immensely in our love and obedience to the Word of God throughout this course, and each lesson has tested and proven us in every foundational area of our faith. The course is also clearly anointed to flush out all those who truly oppose God’s Word – and we have been very thankful that the Ministries precious time has not been wasted on those not even willing to submit to the basics of God’s undeniable Word.
Finally, and very sadly, we have again experienced opposition from those “closest to us” in our work in the Gospel. The Lord clearly warned us in Matthew 10:34-39;
‘Think not that I am come to send peace on earth: I came not to send peace, but a sword. For I am come to set a man at variance against his father, and the daughter against her mother, and the daughter in law against her mother in law. And a man's foes shall be they of his own household. He that loveth father or mother more than me is not worthy of me: and he that loveth son or daughter more than me is not worthy of me. And he that taketh not his cross, and followeth after me, is not worthy of me. He that findeth his life shall lose it: and he that loseth his life for my sake shall find it.‘
After a year of sitting in church where the Gospel is preached without compromise and Biblical Discipleship is practiced in power – these ‘household’ members, have continued to disobey and reject the basics of Christianity, along with continual verbal attacking, criticising and undermining those appointed over them in the Lord. Attempting to sow discord and confusion amongst the brethren is a sin the Bible says God hates -yet so many who don’t fear God, seek His face, or submit to His Word , participate in it willingly.
Our year has begun with holding such people to account, requiring such to repent and submit to the word of God, or cease referring to themselves as ‘Christians’. And so our year will continue earnestly contending for the faith…
Please continue to keep us in your prayers as we embark on many new things this year, prepare for much opposition from the enemies of Christ, and are looking to God for all His strength and grace more than ever. We also recently posted three new testimonies from disciples on our VIDEOS tab, have a listen if you haven’t already, and be encouraged at what God is doing in the people here.
God Bless and much love, AHKM team
