Our official Saturday evangelism team has grown, with both brand new Christians and those who have been saved for a long time, all joining us in preaching to the lost for their first time. They have loved the challenge of reaching beyond their comfort zones and giving others the gospel that someone freely gave them. Already people are getting ‘hooked’ on obeying Jesus commission, forever ruined for ordinary selfish living J One young man in our church was spotted out on the streets witnessing on his own the day after he first came out with the AHKM team. He said he so loved talking to people about Jesus he just had to go out and do it every day.
All those joining in the evangelism team have been stepping out by distributing gospel tracts, sharing testimonies, preaching the gospel, praying for the sick, prophesying over people, and generally bringing the Kingdom of God to the streets of Manurewa. Many people have expressed genuine interest in Jesus, praying prayers of commitment, and have further inquired about Jesus by coming to church. Last weekend God did an instant miracle for a man who was prayed for on the streets by three AHKM disciples. The man had badly injured his knee the previous day playing rugby and with painful bruising behind his kneecap, was walking with a limp. As he was prayed for he felt the pain and swelling leave his knee and began jumping and running around for joy. He said he only wished he had been prayed for by Bible believing Christians earlier that day as he had missed an important rugby match that morning due to his injury!
God has also done lots of other physical healings in the past month. A baby’s tear duct was healed after he was told he would require surgery to stop recurrent conjunctivitis. A man’s injured back and various pains in two other men’s bodies were healed during church on a Sunday night. God has also answered prayers by providing different disciples with great jobs, by providing a long awaited home for two team members and by opening up a new large venue for the AHK Manurewa church services. Since beginning the church we have been crammed into a building that seats 30 (and often overflowing out the doors!) but after much opposition the Ministry was granted a contract to hire the Weymouth Rugby Club rooms which seat well over 100 and overlooks the beach! Not bad J
The Ministry has also been able to assist the purchase of a vehicle for three young disciples who have relocated their lives to South Auckland specifically to become disciples under the Word of God. We praise God for men and women with hungry hearts to follow Jesus and be trained up to do His will on the Earth. This is how New Zealand and the world will be truly evangelised.
This week the church started teaching the ‘Foundations Course’ for all those who have become disciples or are considering discipleship. It is very exciting to go through key Christian doctrines scripture by scripture, and learn together how we can defend the Truth of God’s Word against false doctrines and opinions of man; ‘it was needful for me to write unto you and exhort you that you should earnestly contend for the faith which was once delivered unto the saints’, Jude 1:3. After all, as Christians, it is God’s opinion on every issue which matters most to us and is indeed our final authority.
Lastly in the wake of the terrible events in Christchurch we are reminded that life on the Earth is short and it is paramount that Jesus’ Gospel goes forth to all men that their souls might be saved. The media is reporting that many New Zealanders want to leave this country and settle elsewhere, and yet God is establishing this ministry in the midst of the trouble to give all men the opportunity to repent and become sons and daughters of God. We praise God for the privilege of doing His work and for the lives that have been touched by His Gospel so far.
Keep praying for us, Love and Blessings from New Zealand,
