The souls of Manukau City are ready for the truth of Jesus Christ to come once again and overwhelmingly the people we have met have been open and hungry for real encounters with God. Religion runs rife in this city: the streets are filled with Mormon missionaries and are home to the Pacific Headquarters of the Jehovah’s Witness. Many Maoris attend traditional churches which teach polytheism (many gods) mixed in with some Christian philosophy. Many supposed Christian churches deny the Holy Ghost, and others that do acknowledge Him do not evangelise their community nor disciple their congregations. The result is many people who have known forms of religion but have never heard the Gospel that saves, nor encountered the living power of God!
The AHKM team has been preaching to lost souls here every Saturday and at every other opportunity throughout the week, and have seen the Holy Ghost touch many people. Some people have sat in churches for years and have never heard that every man has sinned and needs to repent and trust in the sacrifice of Jesus Christ for salvation. We have been able to pray with many people who confess that they want to turn from their lives of sin and follow Jesus, and then we encourage them to read the Bible, pray and be planted in a Biblical church. One young person working on the streets was born again with two AHKM members and has been attending Bible Studies since. Others that met AHKM members on the streets have started coming to all AHK services and have professed that they would like to be disciples.
One elderly Christian couple met two AHKM members at Clendon Park and said that this area has not seen such fervent preaching of the gospel, and they were so blessed to see a church loving the people on the streets by bringing the Gospel and power of God to them. Another Christian family saw AHKM members witnessing in Manurewa and were so excited to meet people ‘on fire’ they came to lunch with the team and to church. They are so hungry to evangelise themselves but are in a Pentecostal church that doesn’t do any preaching to the lost. They are looking forward to coming to Bible Study this week to grow more in God.
Others have visited our Sunday church services after talking to team members on the streets and have been touched by God in the services through the preaching, prophecy and laying on of hands. In our first service a young man was powerfully touched by God in his seat and was quick to respond to the call to repent and give his life to God. When an AHK Minister prayed and laid hands on him he was filled with the Holy Ghost and began speaking in other tongues. This man is not from a Christian background, and is so hungry to be discipled and grow in his new relationship with Jesus.
We have also seen God confirming His message with signs and wonders. One lady we met on the streets had kidney disease and needed blood transfusions every two months. Two of the team laid hands on her and prayed. Two weeks later the lady testified that her health had improved and her doctor told her she didn’t need the transfusion at the two month mark. It has now been more than three months since her last transfusion and she is doing well. We have also been reminded that long after we leave the situation God continues to act on the seed that has been planted! Two of the AHKM team met a Hare Krishna lady on the streets in Auckland city and shared the gospel with her. In the discussion one of the team mentioned a Hare Krishna lady he had witnessed to in Melbourne. The lady in Auckland knew the lady in Melbourne and shared that she had become a Christian because someone witnessed to her! Praise God, He is reaping even after we walk away (and move to other countries!).
So as you can probably tell from this blog entry the team have all been busy in the work of God and much is happening in the life of this new church! Rev’s Ryan and Jac have set the challenge that all the team will incorporate witnessing to the lost in our daily lives, that we may truly evangelise this area for Jesus. He has given us this area to dominate and it is such a thrill to be part of God’s great plan for this Earth.
Thank you for your prayers for this great nation of New Zealand. From Jerusalem, we really are evangelising the ends of the earth!
the AHKM Team.
