We travelled around looking for road signs to find our lodgings for the night. At one point, as we pulled over to scan a tourist map, a man who had been casually walking along the footpath in front of us, suddenly lifted up his hand and made a "devil sign" like one would do a "hail Hitler" salute and stared at it, marching until he was several metres past our car... Then, as if nothing had happened, he continued on his leisurely stroll. I think the devil knows we're here :)
Wednesday was full of organising for our new life in NZ. As we were activating our new NZ bank account, the lady said to us, "its lovely that you're moving to this area, but there's one area I wouldn't move to even if you paid me - that's Clendon Park" - HAHA! Well Jesus and His Gospel shine the brightest where it is darkest!
As she said this I looked down to see the last real estate house inspection that were willing to consider us and it read Clendon Park, Manukau city :)
By Friday, God had provided us a 3 bedroom house in Clendon Park, and a 10 seater Ford econovan for our beginnings! Praise Jesus!
We noticed that nearly every ATM we visited in our area was manned by a security guard and the ATM screen instructs you to cover your hands as you enter your pin. When we withdrew our bond, month in advance and letting fee at an ATM for our rental property, the security guard was so nervous on my behalf, that he practically escorted me to the car and then waited by our car till we had driven off.
There had been a gang robbery only the week before and they are extremely frequent. The shops and banks have signs saying "no hoods, no beanies, no hats, no glasses, no veils..." Even the shopping baskets have security clips on them so you can't steal them!
The local paper yesterday read that there had been 24 car break-ins recently in the Manukau area and 12 of them had been in Clendon Park ...
Are you getting the picture??? We are in the right place! We had known nothing of this area before we arrived, but were lead here directly by the word of the Lord - and lo and behold, God has sent us right where He wants us - and we are very excited to get out on the streets and begin the work of the Gospel here.
We have spent much of the past week unpacking, cleaning and organising. We have done a couple of trips around to scope out the area, but once we're fully settled in, we will get out and follow the Holy Ghost as to where to get our building and plant our first AHKM church.
The rest of our AHKM team (Pastors Tim & Lin, and Tom, Barb, Jay & Raph) are sorely missed already - and are busy finalising their affairs in Australia (and planning for Wedding!), before they fly into Auckland 6th and 7th December.
Please be in prayer for the Team as they sort out and finance their huge relocation, and be praying for powerful Holy Ghost leading for the upcoming AHKM church plants.
God is eager to reach the people of Auckland with His saving Gospel, to save, heal, deliver and Biblically Disciple them to live the life He's called them to and fulfill His plans for each, and see this nation saved.
Satan is a liar!!! JESUS CHRIST IS KING AND LORD!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
